"More Than Just a Glove"

My Rawlings Flytrap softball glove has always been one of my most cherished possessions.  My father bought this glove for me when I was 10 years old and after losing my dad a few years back, it has become even more important to me.  After 30 years of hard use, my old Rawlings was definitely showing its age, and needed to be “retired”.  Reluctantly, I began my search online for a replacement when I came across Everlasting Glove.  After speaking with Mike on the phone and seeing photos of his work online, I became hopeful that my glove could be restored to a useable condition.  Was I ever wrong!  I drove to Windsor to meet with Mike and after examining my glove and listening to my story, it was clear that neither of us would be satisfied with “useable condition”.  We agreed that my Rawlings deserved better and I gave Mike free reign on the restoration.  I will let the pictures speak for themselves, but they can’t describe the feeling that goes with putting on your favourite glove for the first time after Mike has brought it back to life.  My Rawlings and I are ready for many more great seasons on the diamond!

"Renewing my glove and memories"

"My parents bought me a glove for Christmas 1960. I loved it. I used it competitively for 10 years. Used it in pick up or catch for another 10 years. Retired it to the attic (bad move!). Retrieved it 35 years later. Hopelessly deteriorated. Laughable when I showed it to young players. Even they knew I should not have kept it in an attic trunk.

 

In 2016, I sent pictures to Mike. He replied that he would like to try to restore it as best he could. And best he did! He's a wizard. My glove now looks like it did in 1970! I use it and proudly display it in my study next to my Ralph Houk Topps baseball card.

My glove arrived today, safe and sound and looking beautiful.

 

I bought my glove in 1981 in a sporting goods store in Harvard Square, Cambridge, Massachusetts.  During the 1970s and 1980s I played a lot of softball.  I've used it only lightly over the past 25 years, but now with an 11 year-old grandson playing ball, I play a lot of catch.  In my will I'm leaving it to him - a family heirloom.  But I'm only 62, so I plan to have it for a while yet (and we have two more grandsons, aged 2 to 3).  I can't wait for spring!


I cannot thank you enough for your craftsmanship and attention to detail, or admire you enough for your love of ball gloves.  I will enthusiastically recommend you to anyone I see whose glove looks tired or in need of repair.

"Hi Mike:  All I can say is WOW!  All 3 gloves turned out better than I imagined.  The dye job, relace and repair on the Easton looks absolutely amazing!  The Nokona is sexy in red.  As for the Mizuno which I already loved before, with the thumb loop mod, it is now perfect.  You are definitely a master of your craft, truly impressed and your prices are more than fair. Some of my teammates’ gloves are lookin' pretty sad, hopefully I can send them your way."
